Welcome to the first post from National Outcast.
This blog will touch on the basics of camera operation for new photographers, diving behind the scenes of photo-shoots, sharing some of my new projects, and answering a few of those questions about photography you have kicking around in that head of yours.
But first off, let me introduce myself.
I started in photography about 7 years ago and have been a professional photographer for 5 of those. I got into this line of work because of my love of storytelling and now I don't know what I'd do without it. Maybe get a higher paying job... who knows, the world is crazy!
Got a little sidetracked there, excuse me.
The "Outcast" from my company "Outcast Entertainment" and this new blog "National Outcast", comes from my college teacher. While he was instructing our class he told us that when we go into our perspective fields we would be considered an outsider, a newbie, an outcast. He said it would be an uphill struggle for a while until we made a name for ourselves. I liked the idea of being an outcast, it reminded me of some of my favourite characters from books and movies I was in to and it filled me with a sense of adventure.
So, I bought it.
I soon found out that being self-employed isn’t always as glamorous as some people say. Sure, you’re your own boss and you set the hours, but that can kick you in the ass if you’re not careful. Sometimes you get stressed out and wonder if this career path is the one you should have taken but then you remind yourself that you get to work on something you're passionate about every day and that makes it a little less scary.
So why am I starting a blog? I was told I should.
But in all seriousness I have always wanted to start one but never really had an idea on what I would talk about or how I would talk about it.
So, this year I'm giving it a shot.
I’m looking forward to sharing my thoughts with you and seeing where this takes us.
